Transport throughout Belgium will be impacted by a major strike by the main unions on 13th February 2019.
The strike has been put in place due to the breakdown of negotiations relating to wages over the coming two years. Initially the strike was to be put in place by the unions representing the private sector workers, however it is believed that unions representing the public sector will also join in the action.
Disruption is expected to be high throughout the country affecting public transport, roadways, airports and the main ports.
We have been advised that the port of Antwerp will be closed from Wednesday 13th February at 6am until Thursday 14th Feb at 6am.
Unions have called upon members in the ports, air traffic control and ground crew at the major airports to join in the strike action.
