Lunar New Year 2020 falls on January 25th. The Chinese public holiday lasts from January 24th to 30th, during which the New Year's Eve on January 24th and New Year's Day on January 25th are the peak time of celebration for the year of the rat. The Lunar New Year calendar counts from New Year's Eve to Lantern Festival on February 8th, 2020 so some organizations may allow for an extended holiday period. The lunar new year dates change every year because the festival is based on the Chinese lunar calendar, this year the festival falls early and we advise to get prepared for the closure of many factories in China and other countries celebrating the lunar calendar.
As many manufacturing facilities close their doors to allow employees to enjoy the festive period, planning ahead can help you achieve maximum benefit to your air freight, ocean freight and logistics schedule and cost.
Due to the decreased number of employees on site, production times may need to be extended. You will need to allow for not just longer production times but also an increased amount of time to receive your quotations. Production slows down and orders begin to back up, factories in general will process orders from their regular clientele and will assign priorities to their most valued clients.
